Pros: Playing this game is like playing the TV show. Pros: Each family member has a different skill set, the levels offer a great variety and reference many classic episodes.Ĭons: Gameplay is a heavy copycat of 3rd person platformers and even includes a troublesome camera and resulting frustration. Basically, it's a really long episode of the Simpsons, as an episode it's spectacular.as a game, it's short. It is a licensed game that features all the voice actors (there's over 8,000 original lines for the game or something ridiculously high) and some animated segments/shorts. The Simpson's Game is yet another game starring America's beloved dysfunctional family. See Videos and Pictures to go along with this Review.

Great Rental but only Hardcore Fans should buy You can always resell it and get back at least half your investment. I wouldn't pay much more than that for it, but if you like the Simpsons I think it is worth the buy.

While blockbuster charges $9 to rent a game, I figured paying $10 to own it was a better option. That is fine for me, as I do not care to play a game for months on end, but that may be a downside for most people. Likes: Graphics are good most of the time, story line is funny, special moves/powers are fun, it feels like you are controlling an episode of the Simpsons.ĭislikes: Does not have the same feel as the arcade game (a remake of the arcade game with online multiplayer would be great), Action is not continuous (you have to go around the town of Springfield to find missions, rather than non-stop action), the game is pretty easy.Īdditional Commentary: Although I have not played it all the way through yet, I hear that this game can be completed in about 7 hours. I was hoping it would be like the Simpsons arcade game, which is one of the best arcade games of all time. It is possible to use the bus to travel quickly to various destinations.Decided to buy it because it was cheap ($10 for a brand new PS3 game? sounds like a do) and because I like the Simpsons. These locations may contain additional dialogue and events. Familiar landmarks (such as Moe's Tavern, etc.) are present and can be explored as well. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions also contain free-roaming gameplay - exclusively in those versions player characters can leave the Simpsons' house between missions and freely wander through virtual Springfield. Some of these abilities have limited uses and must be either recharged or replenished with special items, while others are available only at specific trigger points. Finally, Marge can gather people with her megaphone and control their actions, as well as send the little Maggie into crawlspaces only she can access. Lisa's main ability is called "Hand of Buddha", which is used mainly for moving around large objects she can also play her saxophone to stun or confuse enemies. Bart can become Bartman, using a grappling hook to access certain areas, as well as move upwards in air streams with his cape. Homer can expand into a rolling blob or inflate himself with helium and float for a while later, he learns a few other transformation abilities. The four controllable characters have their own unique abilities, which are used for combat, puzzle-solving, or exploration-related purposes. Most of the game's versions allow two-player cooperative play. Players must switch back and forth using each family members' unique powers to complete the level. Each stage features two members of the Simpson clan working together to achieve the goal. Some of the episodes parody a popular game or genre, having names like Medal of Homer or Neverquest. Every episode is set in a different environment some of the scenarios are based in Springfield, while others take the player into meta-virtual worlds. The game is divided into sixteen episodes, each containing cutscenes reminiscent of the original Simpsons TV series.

The Simpsons Game is a 3D action game with platforming and light puzzle-solving elements, based on the long-running cartoon. Now the unlikely superheroes must not only protect the town of Springfield from an alien assault, but also find the true reason behind their newly acquired powers, and perhaps their very existence. Toying with these, however, attracts the attention of the aliens Kang and Kodos, who decide to invade the Earth. Miraculously, after having read the manual, the members of the Simpsons family discover that each of them possesses a unique superpower. Suddenly, a video game manual lands right in front of him.
